Trading GuideP2P Trading on Cointivo: Buy and Sell Crypto Directly
A comprehensive guide to Cointivo's peer-to-peer (P2P) marketplace — how to buy and sell crypto directly with other users, payment methods, and staying safe.
What Is P2P Trading?
Peer-to-peer (P2P) trading connects buyers and sellers directly — Cointivo acts as a trusted escrow service rather than the counterparty. You negotiate the price and payment method, then Cointivo holds the crypto securely until payment is confirmed.
Why Use P2P?
- Local payment methods: Pay with bank transfer, mobile money, or other local methods not available on regular spot markets.
- No spread: Negotiate the exact rate you want.
- Privacy: Trade without routing through a third-party processor.
- Access in restricted regions: Useful where traditional fiat on-ramps have limitations.
How the Escrow System Works
- Seller creates an ad or accepts a buyer's offer.
- Cointivo locks the seller's crypto in escrow — the seller cannot access it until the trade is resolved.
- Buyer sends fiat payment to the seller outside the platform (bank transfer, etc.) and marks payment as sent.
- Seller confirms receipt of payment and releases crypto from escrow to the buyer.
⚠️ Never release crypto before confirming you have received cleared funds in your account — not just a payment screenshot.
Buying Crypto on P2P: Step by Step
- Go to Trade → P2P.
- Select the coin (e.g. USDT), fiat currency, and payment method.
- Browse available seller ads — compare rates, limits, and seller reputation (completion rate, number of trades).
- Click Buy on your chosen ad and enter the amount.
- A trade window opens. Follow the payment instructions provided by the seller.
- Complete your fiat payment, then click Payment Sent.
- Wait for the seller to confirm and release the crypto — typically within 15 minutes.
Selling Crypto on P2P
- Select Sell on the P2P page.
- Choose a buyer's ad that meets your rate and payment method preferences, or create your own ad.
- When a buyer accepts, your crypto is moved to escrow automatically.
- Provide the buyer with your payment details.
- Once you confirm the fiat payment is cleared in your account, click Release Crypto.
Staying Safe on P2P
- ✅ Only trade with users who have high completion rates and positive reviews.
- ✅ Verify payment in your actual bank account — not from screenshots (screenshots can be faked).
- ✅ Use the in-platform chat for all communication — this is recorded for dispute resolution.
- 🚫 Never release crypto before payment is confirmed.
- 🚫 Never take disputes or communication off-platform.
Raising a Dispute
If there is a disagreement, click Raise Dispute within the trade window. Cointivo's support team will review the chat history, payment evidence, and release or refund the escrowed crypto accordingly. Responding quickly with clear evidence (bank statement showing the transaction) leads to faster resolution.
